DIARY for the Week Beginning Sunday - 20.4.03

Jon Lloyd

After a few days away in sunny Wales - which it was this time! I have slipped behind on the update
of the site. The notes below summarise the entries in the hide Log Book during my absence

Sunday was an unusual day becuase nobody actually visited the farm or if they did made no entry in the log.

l

MONDAY - FRIDAY
SATURDAY
SUNDAY

MONDAY - 21-4-03

Ed Wilson -Vixen - Black headed Gull, Moorhen, Coot, Teal, Little Ringed Plover, Swallow, Cormorant

TUESDAY 22 -4-03

Pete Parton - Swallow, 3 Reed Bunting

Pete Jordan - Cuckoo mobbed by Gulls, 2 Curlew, Male Wheatear, 10 Fieldfares (the latest record so far), Orange Tip butterfly.

STRANGE ENTRY in log from Mark Tarry who reported a Male Hen Harrier seen on the 14-4-03. Writing not terribly clear so I will have to check this one out. If I have read this correctly this is the latest record this year of Hen Harrier and quite intriguing.

SATURDAY 26.4.03- Jon Lloyd

A real April Showers day - somebody had been down earlier than me and recorded Cuckoo but although I have heard Cuckoo from the garden of my house only a couple of miles down the road I haven't yet picked up Cuckoo at Wall Farm.

Tibberton Gange Pool was strill holding a couple of Tufted Duck and Great Spotted Woodpecker flew up into the Oak tree while I was scanning the fields. Red Legged Partridge in the road here.

Also seen:

Pied Wagtail, Tree Sparrow, Hedge Sparrow. House Sparrow, Goldfinchm, Greenfinch, Chaffinch, Linnet, Lontailed Tit, Starling, Lapwing, Teal, Mallard, Canadian Goose, Mute Swan, Skylark, Snipe, Black Headed Gull, Chiffchaff, Swallow, Little Grebe, Heron, Coot, Moorhen, Blackbird, Yellowhammer, Skylark. (Hare and Grey Squirrel)

New Plants in flower, Forget me-knot, Jack By the Hedge, and Mosueear....photos to follow next week.
