MONDAY 12.5.03 Steven France - Otterspot!! "8.24pm An Otter surfaced in front of the hide, diving and surfacing regularly - gone to gull stumps in the middle - gulls moved ofas the Otter hunted 8.30pm Incredible two otters - moving together very closely" TUESDAY 13.5.03 Jon Lloyd - Steven France, John Keely One the biggest groups of Lesser Black Backed Gulls hubng around most of the evening which seemed a little unusual. They often pass over on the way to roost. Occassional birds come lower and sometimes land but tonight a large group of 72 birds landed, bathed washed and sat out in the field beyond the wetland all night. The flock was mainly made up of immature birds with a few adults among them Steve had returned for a further evening in the hope of repeating the Otter spot of the previous night but nothing doing! John picked up three Littel Ringed Plover that can in late in the evening and landed in the field behind the wetland with Lapwing here too. We had great fun try to pick up the LRPs as they ran through the field dissapearing in the dips between the crops. Sedge Warblers sang all evening and small groups of Swallows and Swifts dashed through. Reed Buntings singing from various areas of the wetland and serveral buzzards including the white breated bird sat out in the field behind the wetland. Usual group of Warblers seen and heard on the farm; Whitethroat, Blackcap, Chiffchaff. Also seen, Heron and Yellow Wagtail, Long Tailed Tit.
