SUNDAY 16th November-
I was the only person today to enter the Wall Farm Hide - very unusual - do they know something I don't? Firecrest at Venus Pool?! That Peregrine is still hanging around on the field behind the wetland. Been a regular resting spot of late.
The early sun is up around 7.00am, not early by summer standards! The weldmoors busy with many birds first drifting out from tree top roosts for the first days foraging. Large groups of rooks raked the now brown and somewhat withered branches of maize fields. Jackdaws poked about amongst the feet of cattle and Pheasants drited in large flocks out into open fields. There usual flocks of Fieldfare and Redwing, scattered this morning. Small grops of Goldfinch twittered melodically form the hedges. A couple of Pied Wagtail walked the undulating clods of newly turned soil in search of insect rewards. The little Owl was still calling from a favourate Willow tree roost but the Tawny Owl has left the now bare braches of the farm drive Horse Chestnut in search of somewhere more sheltered I assume.
