DIARY for the Week Beginning Sunday - 2.11.03

SUNDAY 26th October-

After a very quiet week the weekend change in weather turned one or two nice birds! The water levels in the pools have steadily risen and with it the Teal levels with numbers up to 120+ in the last week.

The first winter Hen Harrier has turned up late afternoon. A male spent some time on the wetland area causing great commotion with flocks of fieldfare and lapwing. The Merlin has much the same effect when it is around and we have had several very good sightings in the last few weeks.l

Elsewhere on the Wealdmoors we have three Short eared Owls - the eagle eyed Tony Seagrave has found them in an area used by the owls for the last two years.

Martin Grant - I recorded 600+ Fieldfare with only odd Redwings

Wednesday 5th - Martin Grant
