Report in the log book of Marsh Harrier. Saturday 27th A rather blustery day with temperatures falling as a strong wind and rain turned the morning into a another weather challenge. There were plenty of Teal on the pools this mroning - its impossible to count them, they are always so active and many are hidden in smaller pools and amongst the rush tumps out of site. Occasssional they spooked and all took off, which gives you a better chance. The two Peregrines in the field behind helped in this matter. I guess somewhwere around 350 Teal today. Amongst the Teal were two female Shoveler and around 50 Mallard. Not a Moorhen to be seen today, must be keeping their heads down and no Coot. In fact not a single Coot record since last winter. So there has been a big change here for some reason.
10 Blackbirds bounced across the field corner near to the farm house and a large mixed flock of Crows and Jackdaws wheeled and dived on a brisk wind as I returned to the car. Plenty of Great and Blue Tits on the Hide feeders but not much else to report today.
