Saturday 17th July - Jon and Mat Lloyd, Martin Grant

A huge party of Swifts passed by on the front of a weather front. The wind began to gather and out of the sky flying high some in cloud came well over 300 Swifts some dropping lower to feed over open fields. Before them cam a good flock of Swallow with a few House Martins.

The pools produced singing Sedge and Reed Warbler and the frequency of the singing and the occupation of obvious territories suggest both breeding. This would be a first of Reed Warbler. The number of waders remains good with 4 Green Sandpiper,a Greenshank and Common Sandpiper on today. Two Little Owl in one of their usual spots. Also seen: Kestrel, Reed Bunting.
