Water Rail, presumably newly arrived as we have not seen one for some time. The hobby put on a good display again in front of the hide, hawking dragonflies. The Greenshank was still here, its been here for a week now. Also seen: Common Sandpiper and Green Sandpiper, 48 Lapwing, Reed Warbler, Sedge Warbler and Reed Bunting, Sparrowhawk , Kestrel, Grey Heron, Ruddy Duck Monday 19th July - Jon Lloyd
Steve France also saw the Barn Owl hunting later on today and 4 Green Sandpipers, 2 Sedge Warblers, 1 Snipe and a Ruddy Duck. Tuesday 20th July - Pete Jordan 51 Lapwings, 4 Green Sandpipers, Greenshank, female Ruddy Duck, Little Egret and 2 Black Tailed Godwits. - not a bad catch!! Wednesday 21st july As above but 5 Reed Warblers recorded by Martin Grant. Steve France picked up Hobby and Barn Owl later that day. Thursday 22nd July - Pete Jordan 2 Green Sandpipers and a Greenshank Friday 23 rd July - Martin Grant 2 Green Sandpiper, Greenshank and rather unusually and more than likely a first.....a Fallow Deer at the back of the wetland.
