Week Beginning Sunday -18.7.04

SUNDAY 18th July 2004 - Martin Grant, Pete Jordan, Tony Seagrave

Water Rail, presumably newly arrived as we have not seen one for some time. The hobby put on a good display again in front of the hide, hawking dragonflies. The Greenshank was still here, its been here for a week now. Also seen: Common Sandpiper and Green Sandpiper, 48 Lapwing, Reed Warbler, Sedge Warbler and Reed Bunting, Sparrowhawk , Kestrel, Grey Heron, Ruddy Duck

Monday 19th July - Jon Lloyd

Made an early start to day and was rewarded with good views of two Green Sandpipers and a Greenshank.

Sparrowhawk and Kestrel were seen and Reed and Sedge Warbler singing. The female Ruddy Duck was floating around on the near pool sleeping.

Also today Common Sandpiper, Kingfisher and excellent views of hunting Hobby.

Steve France also saw the Barn Owl hunting later on today and 4 Green Sandpipers, 2 Sedge Warblers, 1 Snipe and a Ruddy Duck.

Tuesday 20th July - Pete Jordan

51 Lapwings, 4 Green Sandpipers, Greenshank, female Ruddy Duck, Little Egret and 2 Black Tailed Godwits. - not a bad catch!!

Wednesday 21st july

As above but 5 Reed Warblers recorded by Martin Grant. Steve France picked up Hobby and Barn Owl later that day.

Thursday 22nd July - Pete Jordan

2 Green Sandpipers and a Greenshank

Friday 23 rd July - Martin Grant

2 Green Sandpiper, Greenshank and rather unusually and more than likely a first.....a Fallow Deer at the back of the wetland.

Saturday 24th July

Tony Seagrave: Chiffchaff, Blackcap, Whitethroat, Little Owl, Sparrowhawk, Mistle Thrush, Willow Tit, Green Sandpiper

Pete Jordan: Hobby, 2 Green Sandpipers, Corn Bunting
