SUNDAY 5th August 2004 being updated/............................ MONDAY 6th
TUESDAY 7th Jon Lloyd - dropped in late, at dusk, in the hope of showing my son a Barn Owl but nothing doing! Many ducks and geese dropped onto the pools in the last light. We counted well over a hundred Mallard and a small numbers of Teal. In the last light a single Green Sandpiper and a Snipe called. The Little Owl was about in the field opposite the farm drive and a Tawny called in dark somewhere.
WEDNESDAY 8th
THURSDAY 9th Jon Lloyd - The water is well down on all ponds, ideal for passage waders but perhaps a little late now for the exciting time. Greenshank and Snipe on tonight. Mallard and Teal and Moorhen but the Coot have all left, perhaps spurred into action by falling water levels. we have managed to hold onto more coot than usual during the summer and they certaily bred. The wetland produced the usual Reed Bunting. The farm drive held a good troop of Long tailed tits, at least 20. Steve reported 19 Mistle Thrushes on the wires and saw some of these in the Glebe, fairly vocal when a Sparrowhawk passed over. There seems to be large numbers of immature Chiffchaffs stif in the trees and hedges around the farm. No sign of the Barn Owl tonight. FRIDAY 10th
